Rear Suspension Support

SumoSprings helper springs are great for vans. Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the van's weight. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

SumoSprings Rebel installed showing separation of 2-piece springs

The innovative 2-piece design of these Rebel springs allows for unlimited suspension travel. This means that there will be more movement in your suspension when you're unloaded or off-roading, which makes your ride smoother and more comfortable.

Each spring has 2 pieces. One piece attaches to the frame of your vehicle. And the other piece attaches to the axle, typically above your existing factory leaf spring. The pieces come together to provide support when you are towing or hauling a heavy load. When you're unloaded, they separate so that they don't restrict the movement of your suspension. The closed-cell urethane springs also act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

SumoSprings compressing under load

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings expand and compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts, and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

This kit comes with custom-fit brackets that are designed to easily bolt onto your vehicle.

  • Will SumoSprings Kit Help 2024 Ford F-350 that is Towing Fifth Wheel Camper
Hey Peter, thanks for the pictures of your leaf springs loaded and unloaded. I don't think we've ever had anyone send us pictures for that before so that is interesting to see. That's quite a bit of sag and it looks like your overload springs are just about to start to get engaged. With that said, yes, the Sumosprings kit part # SSR-128-47-2 does fit your truck and is going to do a great job getting rid of that sag without making the ride quality to harsh so this would be a great idea for...

  • Which Suspension Upgrade is the Best Option for a 2025 Ford F-350?
Hey Bob, congrats on a setting up a new camper! Out of all of those options you'll also need to consider daily driving comfort unless that camper is a permanent addition to your truck bed. Listed below are a brief breakdown of each and a recommendation. The TorkLift StableLoad item # TL89CR that fits your F-350 is going to pre-load your overload springs which will help keep you level and reduce sway/body roll. The overload leaf is a separate, often shorter or differently shaped, spring...

  • SumoSprings or Timbren on a 2020 Ford F-350? Which is Better for a 5th Wheel Trailer?
I always recommend SumoSprings over Timbrens for any vehicle that is not being used as a work truck. SumoSprings have two mounting points that only come together when a heavy load is placed on them. Timbrens will affect your daily driving and will give your rear end a bouncy stiff feeling when you are not towing. For your 2020 Ford F-350 you will want the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs item # SSR-128-47-2. You will want to confirm your truck has a bump stop perch over the axle....

  • Recommended SumoSprings for 2025 Ford F-350
Hey Michel! I also really like SumoSprings since they're easy to install, don't require maintenance, and don't ruin unloaded ride quality like some other options do. You can go with the traditional style like # SSR-127-54 as long as you don't have a 3" block between the leaf pack and top overload spring. However, with a 2,800 lb capacity I'm afraid you might be overloading them once you switch to a 5th wheel with a heavy pin weight. A better solution would be to switch to the SumoSprings...

  • SumoSprings for 2023 Ford F-250 Towing Winnebago Voyage
Hi Tim; the yellow SumoSprings # SSR-127-54 will be able to handle that weight but it sounds like you will be really close to their limit. Between the tongue weight, truck bed weight, and the long distance towing I think you would be better off adding the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SSR-128-47-2. These have a higher 5,000 lb capacity which would be better for your application. They also have a 2 piece design which gives a smoother ride when you aren't towing or hauling....

  • Recommended Sumo Springs for a 2022 Ford F-350 Dually
Hey Art! Definitely sounds like you've got quite a bit of weight on the rear end of your F-350. I have a couple of options for you but I'll need you to verify something for me before ordering. If your truck has a bump stop perch over the axle and does not 3" block inside the leaf springs, then I recommend the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs item # SSR-128-47-2. These have a 5,000 lbs capacity and will definitely upgrade your suspension. If you don't have a bump stop perch you'll...

  • SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs For 2025 Ford F350
Hello Nelvin, thanks for reaching out, and congrats on the new truck. Between those two options I recommend the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SSR-128-47-2. Those StableLoads are fine but you will see much better ride leveling with the sumos. They are 5,000 lb capacity so these will help a lot with leveling and stability. It may not take care of 100% of the sagging, but it will be noticeably improved. Also these Rebel springs are two-piece so they separate when not under a...

  • Differences Between the SumoSpring Solo Yellow & Black Version and SumoSpring Rebels
Hey Derek, great question and thanks for stopping by! So mainly between the yellow # SSR-127-54 and the black # SSR-127-47 SumoSpring Solo's is the capacity. The yellow's are going to be for a heavier load application with a 2,800 lb capacity, while the black's have a 1,500 lb capacity. The Rebel's # SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SSR-128-47-2 do differ in a few ways. These have a two piece design which gives better compression and more movement with the axle, which can lead...

Hey Jay, the SuperSprings kit part # SS94VR that you referenced will fit your 2017 Ford F-250 that has the SumoSprings Rebel part # SSR-128-47-2 installed already. The two kits would not interfere with each other.

  • Timbren or SumoSpring Recommendation for 2021 Ford F-250 with Camper
Hey Greg, I would recommend the SumoSprings Rebel part # SSR-128-47-2 for your 2021 Ford F-250. This gives you a lot of support like you are wanting as well as offers a better ride quality than the Timbren setup so it's for sure the way to go.

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement For A 2023 Ford F-350 XLT Tremor Edition Hauling An In-Bed Camper
Hey Cory, Air springs are going to be the best at leveling your F-350 back out once the weight is added but they will most likely affect your unloaded ride quality, even when aired down. That being said, a majority of the unloaded ride quality complaints I've seen have all been on light duty vehicles with less stiff suspensions than your 1-ton Ford so you'd likely not notice the difference nearly as much as others. Air springs would definitely be a top contender for what you're trying...

  • 2024 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4WD SumoSprings Recommendation
I recommend using the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SSR-128-47-2 for your 2024 Ford F-350 Super Duty 4WD because of the higher 5,000 lb rating. Since the springs are progressive you won't get help from them until they are needed - so the higher rating is better since it means you'll get more help. Please note these won't increase the weight rating of your vehicle as they are designed to simply support an OEM suspension that's in good working order.

  • Recommended Replacement Bump Stops for Slide in Truck Camper on 2022 Ford F-350
The Timbren # TFRTT350J is a fit for your 2022 Ford F350 4x4, but its 8600 lb capacity would be overkill for your application, in my opinion. You'd have a pretty rough ride with the suspension under load. I believe you'd be happier with the SumoSprings # SSR-128-47-2 with its 5000 lb capacity. The SumoSprings are made of a more pliable material which would provide a better loaded (and unloaded) ride quality, The # SSR-128-47-2 is for vehicles with a bump stop perch over the axle, If you...

  • Timbren VS SumoSprings for a 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty
I recommend using the SumoSprings over the Timbren system for your 2017 Ford F-250 because we have received numerous feedback from our customers that the SumoSprings provide a much more comfortable ride and they work just as well. For your application I recommend the part # SSR-127-54 if you only tow your 7K trailer occasionally or the Extra Heavy Duty # SSR-129-47-2 (2WD) or # SSR-128-47-2 (4WD) if you tow often enough that it is like a constant load. • Suspension Enhancement for 2023 Ford F-350 With Tremor Package Carrying In-Bed Camper
Hi Cory; based on your requirements I recommend adding air bags and an anti-sway bar to your 2023 Ford F-350. The Firestone # F35FV are fully adjustable so you can get them set just right for the camper and they have 5,000 lbs of load leveling support. When you're unloaded you can run them at the minimum 5 psi so they won't have any impact on ride quality. Air bags don't quite check the box for as simple as possible but they're going to be the best option to do everything else you want....

  • Recommendation For Improving Ride Quality While Towing a Trailer With 2022 Ford F-250 Tremor Package
On your 2022 Ford F-250 Tremor for Towing I recommend going with a Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch. The weight distribution hitch will help you to remove rear end sag by transferring some of the weight to the front axle. It will also help to reduce trailer sway caused by strong winds when driving on highways. When I contacted SumoSprings to confirm fitment on your F-250 they specifically stated they do not currently have any fitments for the Tremor trims. You will need to select...

  • Recommended Suspension Upgrade/Enhancement for 5th Wheel Towing with 2022 Ford F-350
Since you're not planning on using the truck for hauling, the load applied to the rear suspension of your truck will be consistent, which means that you won't need the adjustability provided by air helper springs, so we can rule those out from the get-go. The TorkLift # TLA7311 StableLoad features a swing-out tab that allows the overload springs to engage earlier which is a pretty clever device, but the problem is that you'll need to reach under the vehicle with a ratchet to engage and...

The Timbren Suspension Enhancement System - Rear Axle # TFRTT350J you were looking at will fit your 2021 Ford F-350 4WD but are very stiff and will lead to a very harsh unloaded ride. Instead I recommend the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs - 2 Piece - Rear Axle # SSR-128-47-2 which offers 4600lbs of load leveling support which will be perfect for providing support to the rear suspension of your F-350 when towing your 35' LQ Gooseneck Horse Trailer. You are correct in that there are a few issues with the FX4 Package on your 2022 Ford F-350, and having a dual rear wheel model compounds this a little, but it absolutely does not exclude your truck from being able to get air bags to fit properly. With that said, I recommend going with the American made Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs # AL26KV. This not only will help when using your gooseneck but can also with your 5th wheel adapter hitch. They are a great option for your truck doing heavy duty towing. I recommend using the Sumo Spring Custom Solo Helper Springs # SSR-127-54, which I like here because they're only going to go to work when you're hauling your truck bed camper and will otherwise not change the unloaded ride quality. The Sumo Springs are progressively load bearing with a 2800-lbs capacity and get stiffer as weight is applied to them, so they're great for truck bed campers and will work to help fight body roll and suspension sag when heavy loads are in the truck bed.
